Generating Great Ideas:

Excited Students are Motivated Students.

Damon L. Derbyshire        .

Gunston Middle School

The research written by Dannon L. Derbychire is focused on what techniques or strategies  teachers can implement in their classrooms in order to motivate the students to enjoy the process of learning.

According what I read  her project  “active learning” was implemented in an 8th grade  Language Arts classroom, having a successful  findings. The students were more engaged in the class because they had a goal which in this case was  “Going for the Gold» and their country would be selected as the best site for these Olympic Games.

In my opinion, the research had a good project and implemented in good way, because as teachers we always have to do all kind of changes in our classrooms in order to get our target which is the students learning and engaging. However, I think her ideas were no clear in her paper. At the end I did not understand why she mentioned a comparison between another project «coming to America».

Finally, I think to extend his paper she could explain more details about the results.

Different Research Methods

research

Is it a good advise to use a textbook as an only guide for teaching?

I consider that the textbook is a helpful tool for teaching every level students because the they can have a real material to deal with, also for visual students the textbook is a powerful device. However, as teachers we need to learn how to use it and we have have to complement the book with other sources or material such as videos, slides, the Internet, games, etc. in order to get our goal which in this case is the students´understanding.

The experiment

To apply the Experiment method, I would prove my point of view through the selection of 2 classrooms as a sample. The first group will be provided with a textbook and the students will follow it. I would use a unit with a certain topic. The second group will have a big selection of activities and they will use the textbook just when the teacher considers it necessary, of course they will learn the same topic or unit. After that, I would make a quiz to verify the students ‘understanding.

Survey Research

To solve my Hypothesis, I could use the Survey Research. I would select 10 teachers from different institutions. They will be my sample. I think it is important to choose the questions carefully, they must be short answers and easy to understand so, it will be easy to measure them.

Observation

To verify my hypothesis, I would observe different group of students in a real classroom. I will collect all the information about the use of the book and the implementation of different tools in the classroom. I consider it is necessary to observe the groups for around a month.

Secondary Data

To provide gathered information to my research I would use The Secondary Data Research. Through this method I can add some relevant information to my work. This data could be found on the Internet (other researchers), books, articles, magazines and  information from the government, or reliable agencies.

Key Words: Textbook, Students, Teachers, Classroom and Information.

Great Researchers

Charles Edward Bidwell                                                bidwell

Charles Bidwell born in 1932 and died in 2016.He was sociologist and also best known for his contributions to the sociology of education. Bidwell was a professor of the university in Chicago. He studied the organization of education and instructional processes, making important contributions to the field. However, the importance of his work is not only about his notable researches, he was also a loved professor, a charitable man with his students and a great story teller.

Charles´ work was known because in his researches or essays he clearly paid attention to microlevel factors, mechanisms that mold the organizational behavior and evolution, and broad theoretical applications to other organizational forms.

Bidwell’s scholarship has had considerable influence on the sociology of education. In 1965 he wrote «The school as a formal organization» in this paper he describes the field of the sociology of education. This chapter was importan not just because he described what people do in schools but, what is important the relation among them and the larger society which was conceptually innovative and empirically directive.

He died of neumonia in April. Nowadays, his students teach at major universities and serve in research centers focused on education. The team has been owned outright by Bill since 1972.

Hello! Welcome to my blog!

welcome

Hi! my name is Janeth, I am a B.A. student. I´m 32 years old and  I ´m from Mazatlan a beautiful city located in the Northwest  of the country. The city is also recognized for its delicious seafood and I love all of them. One of my passions is the English Language that´s why I want to become a teacher. I´m studying a pedagogic career because  I´d  like to be not only a teacher I want to be an excellent one. As as said before teaching is my passion I really enjoy doing it, for me it is regardless to know that another person can learn another language with my help. I consider my-self a dedicated and responsible person but, I´m also a friendly and relaxed woman.
